We have three core programmes: OPALS, CATCH, and HOME. Each programme branches out into smaller projects:

OPAL

The OPAL programme helps increase a sense of value for older people by providing opportunities to stay active, be creative, make friends, and enjoy life. The programme benefits members through social connections, active participation in the community, healthy eating, fun and entertainment, learning new skills, and the chance to go on trips that they might not undertake alone.

Reminiscing When: Friday, 11 am – 12 noon
A small group for those over 55 to come together over a warm drink and biscuits and reminisce about old times.

Opal’s Lunch

When: Friday, 12:15 pm – 1:30 pm
Homemade traditional lunches for those over 55, featuring waitress service for four courses, including juice or water, for £6.

Friday Friends When: Friday, 1:30 pm – 3 pm
A group for socializing over a cuppa, with a choice of crafts and games. A small charge applies for crafts and drinks.

CATCHThese sessions are a multi-partnership initiative delivering youth activities. The Hub is based in the community centre at the heart of the Bierley estate, providing children and young people with a safe space where we can support them, build their self-esteem, and encourage them to become active and engaged members of the community.
